# Kusama staking

> Stake KSM by nominating validators directly or through a nomination pool, both with a 7-day unbonding period.

Stake KSM on Kusama two ways: nominate validators directly, or join a nomination pool. Both are native staking; neither issues a receipt token. The mechanics mirror Polkadot staking, on Kusama's own network and unbonding schedule.

## Yields

| Yield ID | Staking type | Provider | Validator selection |
| - | - | - | - |
| `kusama-ksm-validator-staking` | Native | Yield.xyz | Required |
| `kusama-ksm-pool-staking` | Pooled | Yield.xyz | Required |

## Key facts

| | | |
| - | - | - |
| | Validator staking | Pool staking |
| Network ID | `kusama` | `kusama` |
| Staked token | KSM | KSM |
| Unbonding | 7 days | 7 days |
| Warmup | None | None |
| Minimum | Resolved on-chain per network at request time | 1 KSM |
| Rewards | Auto-compounded each era | Claimed manually with a pending action |

## Enter and exit

**Validator staking** takes `amount` and a required `validatorAddresses` array, up to 16 validators. **Pool staking** takes `amount` and a required `validatorAddress`, the pool's identifier. Exit uses the same arguments for both; each unbonds the staked amount, and after the 7-day unbonding period the balance is claimed with a pending action.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Exits are subject to a 7-day unbonding period before withdrawal is available, for both yields.

## List the live yields

Copy this request to list the staking yields on this network that are enabled for your project. Yield IDs change as markets and networks are added, so query the API rather than hardcoding them.
