# Core concepts

> The five ideas behind an Earn integration: yields, metadata, actions, balances, and reward history.

A yield is one earning opportunity on one network: staking, lending, a vault, an LP, or an RWA. Every yield is described in the same format, and its metadata says what it accepts, what it currently pays, and exactly what each action on it requires. An action (`enter`, `exit`, or `manage`) requests a change to a position and returns unsigned transactions for you to sign. Once you sign and submit them, the position appears in balances, split by state and listing its pending actions, and reward and history data (current rates, claimable rewards, historical APY and TVL) put it in context.
